A full rack consists of 48
dimmer module slots, each capable of delivering power and control contacts for
quad, dual or single dimmers of 2.4kw and 6.0kw capacity. Each module utilizes
the PRECIZPIN plug-in system. This self aligning contact is designed to provide
uniform and consistent pressure between dimmer pins and rack receptacles to
prevent deterioration and overheating of the electrical contacts. Pins are
rated at 125 amperes.
Each dimmer cabinet is supplies
with all required plug-in firing cards, controller card and power supply card.
The firing card is designed to regulate the output of each dimmer. Individual
feedback signals to each dimmer prevent any undesirable change of light output
due to line voltage fluctuations or line distortions. Each card controls up to
48 dimmer circuits using highly integrated circuit designs. A maximum of firing
cards (192 dimmer circuits per rack) are housed in the cabinet.
One controller card is provided
to receive both AMX-192 and DMX-512 data transmission protocols. The controller
card contains a built-in, non-volatile "patch" which allows random and
non-sequential dimmer numbering independent of dimmer ratings or placement in
the rack.
One power supply card is
supplied to provide the necessary control voltages for proper operation and
voltage feedback to the firing cards.
A speed selectable low noise
blower provides forced air ventilation so that each dimmer is individually
cooled with ambient air. An ambient temperature of up to 40 degrees C. is
accepted without affecting operation of a fully loaded and operating rack.
Temperature and air sensors are an integral part of the protection
system.
The dimmer rack has integral
"amp trap" protection against overcurrent and short circuit conditions on the
input main buss. The rack is complete with output and neutral connection
terminals, main busses and necessary control terminals. All connection points
are identified with permanently affixed markers. Each rack is equipped with
removable top and bottom cover plates to ease conduit installation on job
site.
